Last week 'Chiyaan' Vikram signed a record endorsement deal. He is the Brand Ambassador for Parle-G, India's largest selling biscuits.

Biscuits, the quick tea- time snack has zoomed into an Rs 3000 Crore industry in India. Today, Parle enjoys a 40 to 45 percent share of the total biscuit market in the country. And Tamilnadu, Andhra, Kerala consumer's appetite for biscuits is enormous, so the bulk of the sales take place in south.

All these years, Parle had no real competitor and is the cheapest biscuit in the branded category. However, last year the Multinational ITC, and their Sunfeast biscuits along with Surya their Brand Ambassador for south made deep inroads into Parle-G's traditional market.

So Parle was forced to do a rethink on their advertisement campaign in south. And who better, than our 'Chiyaan' to spearhead the Parle-G campaign for south? The actor is a household name after Anniyan and as an action hero, he is a favourite with kids and lady audience.

Says Vikram: “I was excited when I heard the concept and Parle-G is an excellent brand to be associated with. The ad is very innovative and was shot in Mumbai by noted cameraman Thiru. I have a perfect foil in Surya, a 9-year-old kid with whom I am doing this ad.”

So it is going to be a shoot out over biscuits between the bitter rivals Vikram and Surya as they try to grab the southern market! A lot of corporates in Mumbai and Delhi are keenly watching this biscuit battle and Cola wars ( Vikram endorses Coke, while Surya sips Pepsi) that has erupted in Kollywood!

Cheeyan Vikram had answered a lot of questions from his fans for our site Behindwoods.com. A fan had queried him about his favorite star in the recent times and the reasons for his fondness. To this Cheeyan had replied that it is Dhanush who rocked in Thiruvilayadal.

In Kodambakkam Vikram is one actor who is known for his candid appreciation of his co-stars. He believes in acknowledging good performances in an open hearted fashion. When it comes to advising the younger brood, Vikram does not hesitate at all and this he does in a very refined way. It may also be recalled that Dhanush used to receive friendly counsels from Cheeyan quite often. Viewers may recollect that a few years back during a filmi function in Singapore, Vikram had made Dhanush sit beside him and extended polite cordialities.

Vikram may not have had a release for the last 15 months, but his fan base is still intact. On Pongal day, his Anniyan telecast on Sun TV garnered record TRP's.
Added to that Vikram's interview on SUN TV, in which he spoke about his heroines was interesting and he came across as a cool dude who carried the entire show on his shoulders. The guy once again proved that he is a TV natural, and was able to appeal to millions of his lady and family audiences.

And the good news for all Vikram fans is that Bheema shoot has resumed in Chennai, and the talkie portion will be over by the end of the month. What remain will be the songs, which will be completed by February. If all goes well Bheema will be ready as the big summer release of 2007.
